Kevin O’Leary’s Wife Now Charged

As was reported a few weeks ago, Kevin O’Leary (and his wife) were involved in a serious boating accident where two people were unfortunately killed.

Now the story has taken a turn for the worst for O’Leary’s family as his wife has now been charged in the incident.

After an investigation by the OPP, they decided to charge O’Leary’s wife Linda O’Leary with careless operation of a vessel in contravention of the Canada Shipping Act (2001), small vessel regulations.

Linda O’Leary is schedule to make her first appearance in court on October 29th in Parry Sound.

The charged carry a maximum penalty of 18 months in jail or a fine of $1 million but Linda’s attorneys say that it is highly unlikely that those sentencing guidelines would be used even if she was found or plead guilty.

The collision occurred around 11:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, Aug. 24 near Emerald Island on Lake Joseph, a popular destination in the region about 215 kilometres north of downtown Toronto. Gary Poltash, 64, from Florida, died the night of the crash.

Susanne Brito, 48, a mother of three from Uxbridge, Ont., died in hospital the following Tuesday.
