The Kevin O’Leary we all love was recently involved in a fatal boating accident in Muskoka Ontario around 11:30 p.m. Saturday August 24, 2019.
A 64 year old man from Florida named Gary Poltash was killed instantly during the crash on Saturday on Lake Joseph, near Emerald Island.
A 48-year-old Uxbridge woman named Suzana Brito is now the second person to die in a collision with Kevin O’Leary’s boat in Muskoka. She died Monday in hospital.
They were both on a 13-person boat on their way back to a local cottage while on a pleasure cruise when it was apparently struck by O’Leary’s boat.
The man at the bow of the larger boat was struck in the head and killed instantly, according to TMZ.

O’Leary made a statement indicating that he was not driving the boat.
“Late Saturday night I was a passenger in a boat that had a tragic collision with another craft that had no navigation lights on and then fled the scene of the accident. I am fully cooperating with authorities,” he said in a carefully-crafted statement. Out of respect for the families who have lost loved ones and to fully support the ongoing investigation, I feel it is inappropriate to make further comments at this time. My thoughts are with all the families affected.”
An O’Leary rep told TMZ that his wife was driving the boat at the time of the accident but did pass an on-site sobriety test, but OPP Det.-Insp. Martin Graham told MyMuskokaNow.com that it was too early to conclusively say whether alcohol played a role in the accident.
